The first trailer for Blumhouse Productions upcoming Halloween sequel has been released, forty years after the original, shot in South Pasadena, made its debut.

The movie is directly connected to John Carpenter’s 1978 original and erases all the sequels and remakes in between. It follows Laurie Strode, as played by Jamie Lee Curtis, and her family as they return to her hometown of Haddonfield several years after Michael Myers’ original killing spree.

Halloween 2018 is directed by David Gordon Green and co-written by Green and collaborator Danny McBride. (Yes—the Danny McBride from HBO’s Eastbound and Down.)

Blumhouse Productions produced Get Out which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture and an Oscar win for writer and director Jordan Peele.

While the latest installment was not filmed in South Pasadena, Sean Clark, a horror circuit producer and talent agent who organized previous Halloween celebrations in the area, announced a 40th-anniversary party will take place near the release of the next movie, which hits the big screen October 19.
