Alverno Seeks New Scholarship Recipients Thanks to the Generosity of Anonymous Donor

It’s hard to believe that the 2015-2016 school year is coming to a close in just a few short weeks!

Once again, Alverno High School is thrilled that 100 percent of our graduating seniors will be off to college at places like Stanford University, UCLA, New York University, Chapman University, UC Davis, University of San Francisco, Santa Clara University, and UC Irvine just to name a few. Over the past four years, these graduates have grown into incredible young women ready and willing to face whatever the world presents them with. We know that they have been empowered and cannot wait to see the difference they make.

Four years ago, each of these young women was given the opportunity to attend Alverno High School and receive an all-girls, independent, progressive Catholic education in the Franciscan and Immaculate Heart traditions. With a mission focused on empowering young women, we provided these young women with a college-prep and nurturing environment that allowed them to grow with confidence and grace into the individuals they are today. In a short month, they will join the 3,500 women around the world who call Alverno High School their alma mater.

Today, Alverno High School is hoping to extend this opportunity to more young women. Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, Alverno High School has received additional scholarship funding for new members of the Class of 2020 and the Alverno community. The criteria for the scholarship, as outlined by the donor, is simple– to provide an independent, progressive Catholic, college-prep, all-girls education to an academically minded student who has demonstrated a commitment and interest in service. Additionally, out of respect for our partners in Catholic and independent education, Alverno has added the clause that these young women may not already be committed to attend another Catholic or independent high school. Funding is significant and in some cases has already been awarded at up to 75 percent. Please note that there are a limited number of scholarships and spaces available.

If you know of a young woman deserving of this honor, please contact Sara McCarthy ’05, Director of Admissions, at smccarthy@alverno-hs.org or (626) 355-3463 ext. 235.
