Chandler School: A Friendly Debate

For the first time, Chandler played host to a debate tournament. Chandler sixth-graders welcomed Poly’s sixth-grade debaters for a friendly tournament based on the prompt eco-tourism does more harm than good. Seven of the nine Chandler teams won their debates, plus a Chandler team that won an intramural match. Teams are told what side of the prompt they’re arguing at the start of the tournament and given 20 minutes to organize their research and prepare opening remarks. Parent volunteers and seasoned high school debaters served as judges for the tournament.
