Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Senior Named Semifinalist in National Achievement Scholarship Program

Senior Ashley Wells placed in the top 10% of all Black Americans who took the PSAT in 2013. She has qualified as a semifinalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Program, an academic competition established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students. She has submitted an application to advance in the competition to become a finalist.

Ashley is a three-year member of Academic Decathlon, and in the competition earlier this year she received nine medals including a gold in the speech category. She also serves on the board of Book Club as treasurer and is working on her Gold Award for Girl Scouts.

She is looking at colleges in the big cities of New York and Chicago, where she plans to major in women’s/gender studies.
