Huntington Middle School and Foothill Unity Center’s 2014 Canned Food Drive

Each year, Huntington Middle School students enthusiastically participate in the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Project, donating food to the Foothill Unity Center for Holiday meals to be given to needy families in the San Gabriel Valley.

In past years, HMS has shown its support by having a food drive during the Holiday Season. This year it was decided that it has to have a Spring Canned Food Drive.

The Canned Food Drive will be the week of April 14 – 18th.

The Foothill Unity Center strives to fill the gaps that many families in the San Gabriel Valley experience in the way of sufficient food, health and dental care, emergency shelter and so much more. In 2013, the Center served over 10,400 individuals.

It is Foothill Unity Center’s goal that Huntington Middle School will donate 1 TON of food. To do that, each homeroom will collect and donate 100 cans of food.

Canned meat or fish (tuna, beef, SPAM, etc.) and hearty soups would be ideal; however, any kind of canned food would be most greatly appreciated. Please be sure to check the expiration date on the cans!
