Huntington Middle School Participates in Parent Mental Health Initiative

Don Duranso and Jenifer Lozano (SMUSD School Psychologists) are implementing a training that is part of the Region 11 K-12 Student Mental Health (SMH) Initiative funded through the voter approved proposition 63, the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA), and the California county superintendents educational services association. The goal of the project is to provide training and education on emerging mental health issues.

The part of the project that Huntington Middle School (HMS) is involved in, is specifically to target student suicide, depression, self-injury, and bullying. The focus is on prevention in these four target areas. HMS is or are proud to say it is one of the 54 districts (and 11 charters) participating in the project. The training will be held on Wednesday, May 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Huntington Middle School in the auditorium.
