Maranatha High School Alumnus Wins Speech & Debate Tournament



Congratulations to alumnus Nick Popham ’11 for winning 1st place in his first collegiate speech and debate tournament held at Long Beach State recently.

While Nick was at Maranatha, he participated in Speech & Debate with Mr. Mesisca and said, “This experience prepared me and helped in my collegiate tournament as well as my ability to speak publicly.” Nick also mentioned that, “Doing Speech & Debate at Maranatha made me realize that I wanted to pursue it in college. I thought it would be a good idea to show the current MHS team that they can go a long way with regards to college and public speaking in general.” Nick is currently attending California State University, Northridge and is majoring in Broadcast Journalism.
