Maranatha High School Sophomore Wins 1st Place in Pasadena Bar Association Speech Contest



Maranatha High School sophomore Trinity Moore, shown here with Maranatha’s Speech & Debate Coach Pat Mesisca ’92, won the first place award of $5,000 in the Pasadena Bar Association 6th Annual Speech Scholarship Tournament.

On Tuesday, May 3, Maranatha High School sophomore Trinity Moore competed against Gabrielino High School senior Jason Ma in the final round of the Pasadena Bar Association 6th Annual Speech Scholarship Tournament at the Pasadena Hilton. The final round was an extension of the April 23 Pasadena Bar Association Speech Tournament where Moore and Ma emerged as the top two speakers out of a pool of 150 high school competitors. In the end, Trinity was victorious and earned the first place award of $5,000.

Over the past six years, Maranatha High School has placed a student in the final round of the PBA Speech tournament four times: Joelle Cheng in 2011, Jessica Demasi in 2012 and 2013, and Trinity Moore in 2016.
