New Horizon School’s Silk Road Food Festival

New Horizon School 7th grade students finished a project on Silk Road that aligned with their unit on Asian civilization. This project had two components to it: writing component and food component. Each student was assigned a Silk Road character (trader) who visited 7-8 places during this journey. During this journey they had to maintain a travel journal writing a page or less for every place they visited.

Students also had to actually use the herb/spice that they (as a trader) might have picked in their journey to prepare a dish. They participated in Silk Road Food Festival with their dishes where they were judged by Ms, Ansari and Ms. Budge. Students got a full immersion in the historical time period by researching about several places and preparing a dish.
