Pasadena Unified “High School 101” Parent Education Seminar is March 26

Concluding its spring 2014 series of parent education seminars, the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) offers “High School 101,” a roadmap for parents to plan for the high school years. The free seminar is Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the John Muir High School Library located at 1905 Lincoln Ave., Pasadena.

“Recognizing that the educational experience is both a process and a journey for students and families, this interactive seminar offers guidance for parents on staying involved during the high school years,” said Superintendent Jon R. Gundry. “Although the level of day-to-day parent involvement changes in high school, it is more important than ever that parents stay connected to monitor and help plan their child’s learning and progress in preparation for college and careers in the 21st century.”

The seminar includes a information on graduation and college admissions requirements, how parents can monitor student progress using new online tools, an overview of academic course offerings in International Baccalaureate, College & Career Pathways and Advanced Placement and other opportunities for parent engagement. Presenters include counselors, parents and students.

The “High School 101 for Parents” parent education seminar is sponsored by PUSD’s Family Resource Center, which supports parents, teachers and staff in building partnerships for student achievement.
