Poly Summer Program to Offer College Counseling

The Poly Summer Program is offering a college admissions course for students from the surrounding community. Taught by Alice Cotti, one of Poly’s experienced college admissions counselors, this course is offered to rising juniors and seniors who are looking for support in developing a successful college search and creating a more compelling college application. Students will explore the characteristics and admission requirements of liberal arts colleges, research universities, private universities, and public institutions, such as the California State and University of California systems. Students will assemble their own preliminary list of colleges using online searches, as well input from Alice based on her experience as Poly’s director of college counseling. Students will map out a plan for assembling their common application.

In conjunction with this course is a course titled Writing for College Applications offered by Grace Hamilton, one of Polytechnic’s experienced English instructors. In this class the students will begin to create personal pieces to use for their college application essays.
