Polytechnic School: Hanukkah Traditions Learned

Kindergarteners and first-graders learned about Hanukkah traditions today. With the help of parent volunteers, kindergarteners made and enjoyed latkes (potato pancakes) and played dreidel. Students learned what each side of the dreidel means, and all hoped their tops would land on “gimmel,” where the player wins everything in the pot. Ms. Ellis joined the festivities and the children sang a song about a dreidel together.

First-graders were also fortunate to have parent volunteers, who shared the book Sammy Spider’s First Hannukkah, and demonstrated how the candles would look when placed in a menorah.

Happy Hanukkah!
