St. Francis High School Hires New Head Baseball Coach

St. Francis High School is pleased to announce that Mr. Terry Phillips has been hired as the school’s new head baseball coach as of August 21, 2014. Coach Phillips was selected from amongst a group of extremely well-qualified candidates to lead the St. Francis baseball program starting in the 2014-2015 season and the school is thrilled to have him as part of the St. Francis family.

Coach Phillips arrives at St. Francis from Occidental College in Eagle Rock, California where he served as an assistant coach since 2010. During the past four years he also worked as a head coach with the Toluca Lake Baseball program. Coach Phillips has also been successful as a head baseball coach at the high school level. From 2005-2008, he served as the associate head coach at Park City High School in Park City, Utah. From 2008-2010, he led the school’s baseball program as the head coach.

During his tenure as head coach, he helped guide the Miners to a conference championship and a trip to the Class 3A playoffs. In addition to the helping the team to a successful season, he also helped send eight players on to play at the collegiate level. Three of those players went on to Division I and one player was eventually drafted in the 14th round by the Kansas City Royals. Amongst that group of players was recent Occidental graduate David Feasler who will be serving as Coach Phillips’ Associate Head Coach for the Golden Knights during the 2014-2015 season.

Coach Phillips appreciates the nature of Catholic education and fully understands the importance of the Franciscan virtues to the mission of St. Francis High School and the direction of the baseball program. Phillips’ positive approach to coaching and his dedication to the sport have been influential in producing high quality athletes and championship teams throughout his career and he is eager to bring these qualities to St. Francis.
St. Francis High School welcomes Coach Phillips into the Golden Knight family and looks forward to the positive impact he will have on the students, the baseball program, and the school.
