St. Rita School Softball Raiders is on the CYO Final Four

On the strength of the first playoff no-hitter by a Raider pitcher in at least a decade, St. Rita softball is made the CYO Final Four! The Raiders defeated St. Catherine of Torrance 1-0. Collette Allen fired the 6-inning gem with the help of a couple good defensive plays. There were not many chances for St. Rita’s fielders to make plays as Collette kept the hitters off balance all night, but Giana Froio and Helena Locateli each made great plays.

Strong pitching by St. Catherine meant the Raiders managed only two hits for the game. One of those was by catcher Hailey Patino, who stole 2nd and came all the way home on a throwing error for the game’s only score.

St. Rita travels to Whittier next Tuesday, May 17, for a 6:00 pm semifinal against second-seeded Sacred Heart of Covina.
