St. Rita School Spelling Bee Finalist!



St. Rita Grade Student, Alessandra Soto placed in the top third in the recent Scripps Spelling Bee district finals. St. Rita School students participate with over 23,000 students in Southern California in the annual Scripps Spelling Bee.

Ali competed in the Scripps Spelling Bee against another 114 top spellers and made it to the fourth round after correctly spelling “cognition”, “olio” and “algorithm.” As a 4th round competitor, she was one of the top 38 spellers out of 23,000 competitors in L.A. County. She only misspelled “bobadil” (an old English word meaning cowardly braggart derived from a novel by Ben Johnson).
