The Joy of Science

Science comes alive everyday at San Gabriel Christian School. Mr. Atwater teaches 6th and 7th grade science where students are taught all about the world we live in. One of the exciting things about Mr. Atwater’s class is the fact that there are many animals to use as a visual display and give the student first hand knowledge of what they are studying. What kinds of animals greet the students? There are variety of snakes, lizards, arachnids, insects, fish and rodents. Students are able to learn from caring for baby snakes and rodents that are born in the room.

Mr. Atwater has taught at San Gabriel Christian School for 25 years. He has taught Bible as well at the school, to him teaching Bible and Science go hand in hand, “God declares that when we look at His creation we know that He exists.” Students choose to visit Mr. Atwater’s room during break and lunch to hold the various animals. It is the joy and excitement displayed by the students that motivates Mr. Atwater and makes the extra time and work caring for the animals worth it.
