UWest Gets a Visit from 94 Delano (CA) Students

University of the West became home to over 90 students in June, at least for one night. A group of 94 students, from Delano, CA, went on a Southern California tour of five universities to explore their educational opportunities. Alfonso Hernandez, guidance counselor for the students of Cesar E. Chavez High School, decided it would be a good idea for the students to spend the night at a private university. Mr. Hernandez chose the right university, University of the West. Students and chaperones were treated to dinner when they arrived and the Enrollment team provided a stellar program including a game show presentation to get students excited about pursuing higher education.

The campus was full of energy as the students put the amenities, pool, game room and basketball court, to good use. Students spent the night in the dorms and in the morning were treated to a hearty breakfast and were given a goodie bag to remember their stay. “This was a first of many for University of the West,” said Dean of Enrollment, Dr. Maria Ayon, “we look forward in expanding our services, especially to our local area high schools. We want to be infused in our community and our community to be infused in UWest.”

University of the West is located at 1409 Walnut Grove Avenue, Rosemead. For more information, call (626) 571-8811 or visit www.uwest.edu.
