A soccer fan argued with a man who pulled out a folding knife and opened it threateningly as they watched a match in a restaurant bar in the 100 block of South Raymond Avenue Saturday morning, police said.

“The suspect’s wife exchanged words with the victim and his friends regarding noise they were making as they watched a televised soccer game” before the suspect brandished the knife and confronted the victim, Pasadena police Lt. John Luna said.

Police were called to the scene around 10:55 a.m., he said, and after corroborating the incident with onlookers witnessed the victim make a citizen’s arrest.

Taken into custody was David Fabela, 36, of Altadena, Luna said.

The victim, a 30-year-old Los Angeles man, was not injured.

Fabela was issued a citation and released.
