Meshell Sohl celebrates the opening of Mimi et Cie. with her daughter Samantha.

Meshell “Mimi” Sohl, formerly of Asanti Jewelers, opened her new Arcade Lane boutique Mimi et Cie. on December 17 with a holiday-cum-grand opening get together and the chance for guests to try on pieces from her beautiful Italian line.

Drawing her inspiration from Paris, the city of romance, where she received her training from a top luxury jewelry and watch brand, Meshell has created an elegant and intimate venue to shop for fine jewelry.

Step forward with your left foot. Bring the right foot forward slowly. Quickly sidestep to the left with your left foot before moving your right foot to your left foot. Learning the Foxtrot, as well as other dances, is easy at Arthur Murray’s Dance Studio this season.

Two introductory private dance lessons now cost only $99.00. Studio director George Estrada said the special price is a big cut from the regular $115– absolutely a Christmas gift for people with a beat for dancing.

The studio also sparkles with events this month. New students will show their moves in the Arthur Show on December 10. Dance enthusiasts are invited to watch the special recital which starts at 7:45 p.m. It is also the studio’s holiday party next Friday. According to George, “next week is going to be our 70s theme party” and the “Christmas in-house studio party (will be) on the 20th.”

When the Pasadena City College Flea Market originated in the late 1970s, it was designed to benefit students through programmatic support and scholarships. To this day, the Market has maintained that designation and grown some.

Currently the Flea Market funds:

Pep Squad
Stipends for student government leaders
Field trips and co-curriculars
Flea Market scholarships in the sum of $30,000
Capital support for campus renovations

The Flea Market is known primarily for selling antiques and collectibles, with the products ranging all the way from high-end antiques to rummage sale type items. The market houses over 450 vendors located in parking lots along the east side of campus (Bonnie Ave. from Colorado to Del Mar).

The Flea Market also houses one of the best collections of record vendors in Southern California. The collection consists of over 50 record and used music vendors located in the Bonnie St. parking structure (Lot 5) on the 3rd Level. Products range from memorabilia to new and used CD’s and DVD’s, from big band to present day performers! Don’t miss the exciting portion of the Pasadena City College Flea Market. Chances are, they’ll be playing your tune.
