4 More Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed in Pasadena

Health department has identified 37 cases in city

[Updated] Pasadena confirmed four more cases of the Coronavirus on Tuesday as the number increased from 33 to 37, according to Public Information Officer Lisa Derderian.

According to Derderian, 11 people are currently hospitalized.

The city still has not recorded any deaths related to the virus.

So far there have been no deaths related to the virus.

The city has announced confirmed cases of the virus every day this week. On Monday 15 cases were announced and eight on Tuesday.

According to the city’s Health Director Ying Ying Goh, 170 people have been tested for the virus about 10-11 percent have tested positive and about 47 people are awaiting test results.

According to Dr. Goh, the 10 percent rate is about what the rest of LA County is experiencing.

A city official told Pasadena Now on Wednesday that the Rose Bowl could be used as a testing center. Stadiums around the country are being used to help fight the virus.

State officials say they expect a surge in numbers in the coming week.

On Monday, Goh said that 28 of Huntington Hospital’s 70 ventilators are currently in use.

It is not known if the four people confirmed to be infected are hospitalized.

Hospitals around the country are struggling to find more ventilators.
