The young man found dead in his apartment Monday afternoon has been identified by the coroner’s office as 30 year old Nebojsa Momcilovic from Pasadena.

Momcilovic was discovered during a welfare check by Caltech Security after a friend made the call and said he had not seen Momcilovic in a few days.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner’s office said the autopsy is pending but it appears to be an accidental or natural death.

Officials noted no obvious signs of trauma, police Lt. Jason Clawson said. Foul play was not suspected.

A hazardous materials crew also responded to the scene after an unusual cylinder that raised the suspicions of first responders.

Deputy Fire Chief Jon Trautwein said they ultimately did not detect anything that posed a threat. It was sent to a lab for further analysis.

It did not appear the cylinder was related to the death, the deputy chief said. “We don’t see a connection.”

Officials evacuated about 15 people from nearby apartments, he said. They were allowed to return shortly before 8 p.m.
