Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey on Wednesday announced the creation of a new division in the District Attorney’s Office as part of ongoing efforts to address the needs of people living with mental illness in the criminal justice system.
She was joined by members of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and other local officials and mental health professionals in a news conference at the Hall of Justice in downtown Los Angeles.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey leads the largest local prosecutorial office in the nation.
Her staff of nearly 1,000 attorneys, 300 investigators and 800 support staff members is dedicated to protecting our community through the fair and ethical pursuit of justice and the safeguarding of crime victims’ rights.
