On Monday, a single car accident in the 1400 Block of South Oak Knoll Avenue killed the sole occupant, a 42 Altadena man later identified as Zarzand Patrosyan.

Two separate single-car accidents on two different hilly Pasadena streets left two local residents dead over a 52 hour period.

On Monday morning at 10:18 a.m. a car heading north up South Oak Knoll Avenue near Kenmore Street went off the road at a high rate of speed, jumping the curb and smashing into a tree, police said.

The driver, identified by a Los Angeles County Coroner’s official as Zarzand Patrosyan, 42, of Altadena, died at the scene, authorities said.

It is not known if either alcohol or a medical condition contributed to the collision, Pasadena police Lt. John Luna said.

The Pasadena Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the incident.

This early Saturday morning crash in the 900 block of Seco Street claimed the life of Pasadena resident Maria Luciana Gomez.

Last weekend, police said a 52-year-old Pasadena woman died Saturday morning after the vehicle in which she was riding struck a pole as it was travelling east along Seco Street from Rosemont Avenue towards Lincoln Avenue.

The woman, identified as Maria Luciana Gomez, was pronounced dead at 6:25 a.m., according to Ed Winter, Assistant Chief with the Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Police identified the driver as Javier Placensia, Jr., a 38-year-old Pasadena resident, who was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter. He was booked at the Pasadena City Jail and was being held on $50,000 bail.

Investigators said in a press release that alcohol could be a related factor in the collision that killed Gomez, adding that the police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the collision.

The two fatal accidents add to the 20 fatalities in 2015 and year-to-date 2016 reported on October 24 by Transportation Department Director Fred Dock.
