Cole: ‘I Feel the Weight of Responsibility’

[UPDATED] In a text message to Pasadena Now on Tuesday night, Rick Cole said he will work with the community to tackle the City’s toughest challenges.

“I feel the weight of responsibility from the mandate that District 2 voters have delivered. They want positive change at City Hall. Together we will work with the entire community to tackle Pasadena’s toughest challenges,” Cole said.

Cole continues to push for an upset against incumbent Felicia Williams.

Cole leads with 60.73% of the vote and Williams continues to trail with 39.27% of the vote in the last round of results.

Pasadena Now continues to monitor the results of the election.

Cole previously served on the City Council from 1982 to 1995, including stints as Mayor and Vice Mayor.

Following his tenure in Pasadena, Cole served six years as City Manager of Azusa, nine years as city manager of Ventura, and most recently five years as city manager of Santa Monica.

The last time a City Council challenger defeated a council incumbent in Pasadena was back in 1987 when Bill Paparian defeated Jo Heckman for a seat on the Board of City Directors, which became the City Council in 1997
