Pasadena Water and Power will begin a project in June to replace approximately 1,400 feet of century-old water mains on Glenarm Street between Arroyo Parkway and El Molino Avenue.
The existing 12-inch and 8-inch cast iron mains, both over 100 years old, will be replaced with a new 12-inch ductile iron pipe to provide reliable, high-quality water service.
To minimize disruption, work will proceed one block at a time, with intermittent water service interruptions and at least 48 hours advance notice provided to affected customers, according to the City. Special efforts will be taken to minimize customer inconvenience during these interruptions.
Heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, loaders and trucks will be used.
Most construction will occur weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with businesses in the area remaining open and accessible during these hours.
During construction phases, Glenarm Street will have reduced travel lanes and restricted left/right turns at certain intersections. Temporary traffic control and detour signs will be posted at all times.
The 110 Freeway on- and off-ramps at Glenarm Street and Arroyo Parkway will also close at times, with detours via Fair Oaks Avenue or Orange Grove Boulevard suggested for freeway access and California Boulevard or Del Mar Boulevard recommended for east-west travel.

“Pasadena Water and Power plans to complete the project by September 2024,” said Anne Quizon, Assistant Engineer.
The project affects Glenarm Street spanning from Arroyo Parkway to El Molino Avenue, as shown in the map provided by Pasadena Water and Power.
