Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts has awarded $1 million in gifts and grants to nearly 90 nonprofit organizations and schools throughout the San Gabriel Valley and greater Los Angeles area, the organization announced on Wednesday.

This year’s awards represent the largest annual grant distribution in the organization’s 76-year history, bringing its total investment in music and the arts to over $26 million. It also marked a year with one of the highest numbers of recipients to date.

The grants, which were presented at the annual Gifts & Grants reception held at the 2024 Pasadena Showcase House of Design on May 2, will help support music education and arts enrichment in schools, youth orchestras, and music therapy programs, as well as underwrite concerts by the LA Phil and other local cultural institutions.

“We had such an exceptional group of organizations applying and it was so inspiring to learn about the incredible work they do within the community to support music and the arts,” said Lisa Loeffler, the 2023/2024 Gifts & Grants Chair.

Suzanne Hart, the 2023/2024 President of the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, added, “Our heritage and legacy are something of which we feel very accomplished. Being able to give away $26 million and to keep this going strong is a testament to the dedication, creativity, and perseverance of all our volunteer members – past and present.”

Funds for the Gifts & Grants program are derived from the organization’s annual benefit, the Pasadena Showcase House of Design, which is one of the oldest, largest, and most successful house and garden tours in the nation.

A total of 27,000 tickets were sold for the 2024 Showcase House. Community volunteers for several of the local nonprofit organizations are also paid to work as docents for the event, earning additional funding.

Planning is currently underway for the 2025 Pasadena Showcase House of Design, which will celebrate its 60-year anniversary. More details will be released later this year.

Members of the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization, donate their time and talents to produce the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design, its primary fundraiser.

Throughout its history, Pasadena Showcase has given more than $26 million to nonprofit organizations, particularly through its Gifts & Grants program, in support of music education, scholarships, concerts, and music therapy, while continuing to support the LA Phil.
