Drivers should expect traffic disruptions on Interstate 210 as Metro’s Soundwall Package 10 Project continues construction. The project, which aims to reduce noise pollution, will affect westbound I-210 between Marengo Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue.

Caltrans District 7 announced that intermittent lane reductions and off-ramp closures will occur Monday through Friday during specific hours. The work schedule includes operations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Metro’s contractor, C.A. Rasmussen, is conducting soundwall construction activities on Maple Street between Lake Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue, and on Corson Street between Los Robles Avenue and Wilson Avenue. These include setting up temporary safety barriers, clearing and grubbing, material delivery and removal, and concrete placement operations.

The project’s impact extends beyond the freeway, affecting local streets as well. Maple Street and Corson Street will experience lane reductions while maintaining through traffic. Westbound I-210 will have intermittent off-ramp closures at Marengo Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue during the scheduled work hours.

Officials assure that access for emergency responders will be maintained throughout the construction period. Additionally, local and pedestrian access will remain open during work activities. Noise mitigations will be in place during night-time operations.

The Soundwall Package 10 Project is expected to continue through 2024, according to Metro’s project timeline. However, the agency cautions that construction schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and other factors.

Caltrans told motorists to be aware of advanced warning and detour signage that will be posted along the affected routes. The transportation agency said all ramps will reopen before peak traffic hours to minimize commuter disruption.
