Better for All, a natural products innovator, has won the Beverage Digest Awards for Best Technology Innovation for its reusable and home compostable cups.
The company’s PHA alternatives to single-use plastic cups were selected from over 170 entries submitted by companies including The Coca-Cola Company, PepsiCo, and Keurig Dr Pepper.
The TUV-certified and Biodegradable Products Institute-certified cups are designed for both home and commercial composting, and can be reused as dishwasher-safe party cups while reducing venue waste management sorting fees.
The cups’ pure PHA material demonstrates the ability to biodegrade in soil and water conditions, offering venues and consumers a sustainable alternative to traditional single-use plastics.
“At the 2024 Tortuga Music Festival, our cups helped simplify the waste stream and contributed to Tortuga achieving an industry best 80% waste diversion rate from landfill,” said Raegan Kelly, Co-founder and Head of Product at Better for All. “Working with partners such as USC Athletics and Oak View Group’s GOAL network, we’re seeing more venues reduce waste by embracing biobased, non-toxic and compostable material solutions.”
The awards were judged by Jennifer Cue, Founder of onCue Ventures; Jasmine Dadlani, Chief Strategy Officer of McKinney; Bill Sipper, Managing Partner of Cascadia; Larry Trachtenbroit, Chief Innovation Officer of Howie’s Spiked Alc-A-Chino; and Mike Weinstein, Founder of INOV8 Beverage Group.
The company’s products have received verification as plastic-free through Oceanic Global’s Blue Standard and Biodegradable Products Institute certification for composting capabilities.
