A 23-year-old Pasadena man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after trying to push a police officer over a second-floor railing at a local motel, according to Pasadena authorities.

Allen Perez was taken into custody Friday after officers responded to a disturbance at a motel in the 2800 block of East Colorado Boulevard at 3:46 p.m., said Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau.

Officers were called to the scene after reports that Perez was punching the door to a room where his ex-girlfriend and two small children were inside, Campeau said.

When officers attempted to detain Perez on the second floor, he reportedly became physically assaultive towards them.

The suspect attempted to push one of the officers over the railings from the second floor landing, Campeau said.

An officer then deployed a Taser and took Perez into custody without further incident.

Two officers sustained minor injuries during the confrontation. One officer was treated at Huntington Hospital and cleared for full duty, while the other was treated at the scene, according to Campeau.
