A heat advisory has been issued for Pasadena and surrounding areas from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 7 p.m. Wednesday, with temperatures expected to reach up to an unseasonable 91 degrees, according to the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office.
The advisory, announced Sunday afternoon, applies to a broad portion of southwest California, including the San Gabriel Valley.
Pasadena is among the cities listed under the alert, which warns of elevated health risks for sensitive populations such as children, older adults, those without access to air conditioning, and individuals active outdoors.
The Weather Service recommends residents drink fluids, stay indoors in air-conditioned spaces, avoid direct sun exposure, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Outdoor workers are advised to take frequent breaks in shaded or cool environments. “Heat stroke is an emergency,” the advisory states. “Call 9-1-1.”
