Pasadena Transit will provide free bus rides on Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29, to encourage residents and visitors to shop local during Small Business Saturday weekend.

The promotion gives riders easy access to Pasadena’s shopping districts, with schedules, maps, and real-time arrival information available at PasadenaTransit.net.

“Small Business Saturday is a reminder of the vital role small businesses play in our city and economy,” said David Klug, Pasadena’s economic development director. “By shopping small, residents and visitors alike support the entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses that make Pasadena unique.”

Kristin McGrath, executive director of Visit Pasadena, said the city’s independently owned shops and eateries offer “authentic and meaningful experiences” that make Pasadena a holiday destination.

While Pasadena Transit is already touting it will waive fares on those two days, Los Angeles Metro has not announced any free ride days between Thursday, Nov. 27, and Sunday, Nov. 30.

Metrolink, the regional rail service, will operate on a weekend schedule for Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. The agency is offering its $10 SoCal Day Pass, which provides unlimited same-day rides on all Metrolink lines except the Riverside Line. Pasadena’s free transit rides are part of the city’s effort to boost holiday shopping and support area small businesses during Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.
