The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority on Thursday awarded a six-year, $60 million design and engineering contract to Parsons Transportation Group, Inc. for the Claremont Extension of the Metro A Line, marking a major milestone in the ongoing expansion of light rail service that which first headed to Pasadena more than two decades ago and has now continued eastward.
The city was the first terminus when what was then called the Gold Line opened from Union Station to Pasadena in 2003.
The unanimous vote by the Construction Authority board advances the 2.3-mile project from Pomona to Claremont, extending the A Line eastward and reinforcing Pasadena’s role as the original anchor of the system.
