The fair will be held at the school’s campus at 524 Palisade St. in Pasadena. It is open to Alma Fuerte students as well as young entrepreneurs from outside the school. Participation is free for enrolled students; other children can reserve a booth for a $20, non-refundable fee, the school said. Participants are expected to manage their own sales and transactions during the event, and the school recommends they bring a cash box and change.
Alma Fuerte is a TK-8 public charter school that says it is authorized by the Los Angeles County Office of Education and accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The school has built its curriculum around entrepreneurship and STEAM instruction, according to its website.
In its announcement, the school described the fair as an opportunity for students to apply lessons in product development, marketing and communication in a public setting. It also said the event would offer opportunities for the media to interview student vendors, their families, and school leaders and educators, and to photograph and film student-run booths. Those descriptions were provided by the school in a press release and could not be independently verified.
The school said it would limit the number of booths selling similar items — citing multiple lemonade stands as an example — and would contact registrants directly if a category becomes oversubscribed.
A registration form for booths is posted on the school’s website. Families with questions can reach the school at (626) 204-5265.
The Pasadena Kids Business Fair follows a similar event the school has held in past years, according to its website, which separately describes the gathering as a craft fair centered on items students make in class, alongside space for outside young entrepreneurs to sell their own handmade products. The school’s press release framed the July 17 event more broadly, as a showcase of student-run businesses. Both descriptions point to the same date, time and location, and the discrepancy in framing does not affect any of the logistical details reported here.
