The Altadena Town Council Land Use Committee is scheduled to vote Tuesday, Nov. 3, on a matter involving St. Mark’s Church and School’s application to rebuild its Altadena campus after the January 2025 Eaton Fire.

The committee will meet virtually at 7 p.m. The St. Mark’s project, at 1014 and 1050 E. Altadena Drive, is listed as a disaster recovery permit application under Los Angeles County case number CREB2026001607, according to the Town Council’s meeting announcement.

Church and school officials announced in July that they had begun the formal Los Angeles County application process to rebuild the campus. According to their announcement, the proposal would incorporate fire-resilient design, updated facilities, sustainability features and improved emergency access.

Officials said the project would not increase school enrollment and identified fall 2028 as their hoped-for reopening date.

Tuesday’s Land Use Committee vote would be part of Altadena’s local advisory process, not final county approval of construction.

The committee reviews zoning, property and development matters and makes recommendations to the Town Council. Los Angeles County Planning administers the county’s disaster recovery permit process.

The meeting will also include an informational presentation concerning the Tongva Taraxat Paxaavxa Conservancy’s conditional use permit application for 2600 N. Altadena Drive, identified as case RPPL2026002382.

The conservancy stewards Huhuunga, a one-acre Altadena property returned to Tongva stewardship in 2022. According to the organization, the land is used for Indigenous cultural practices, education and ecological restoration.

The conservancy application is listed as an informational presentation rather than a committee voting item.

Another presentation will address the Altadena CST Focus Group Survey, with information presented by Petra Wennberg of Altogether.

Milissa Marona chairs the Land Use Committee.

Residents may participate in the virtual meeting or submit written public comments in advance. Comments must be emailed to Milissa.Marona@altadenatowncouncil.org by noon Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The Town Council asks residents submitting comments to include their names, addresses and contact information. Submitted comments will be read into the meeting record. Public comments are limited to two minutes.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3. Residents can join via Zoom using meeting ID 322 976 6940.
