A gas station employee was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday evening, according to police.

Lieutenant Andrea Perez of the Pasadena Police Department said that officers responded to a robbery call at 5:14 p.m. in the 2800 block of East Foothill Boulevard. The victim, a 56-year-old man from El Monte, told officers that  aman entered the gas station and brandished a black semi-automatic handgun.

According to Perez, the suspect pointed the weapon at the victim and demanded money. When the employee hesitated, the suspect walked behind the counter and repeated his demand. The victim then placed an undisclosed amount of cash into a black plastic bag and handed it over to the suspect.

Perez said that the robber then demanded the victim’s wallet and ordered him to open the safe. The employee informed the suspect that he did not have his wallet and did not know the combination to the safe.

The suspect, described by Perez as a Hispanic man in his fifties, was last seen walking east on Foothill Boulevard. He was reportedly wearing a black beanie, eyeglasses, an N95 mask, and a fluorescent yellow shirt with “Hitachi” printed on the back.

No injuries were reported in the incident, Perez said.
