The ANCA – Pasadena Chapter hosted its annual Holiday Party on Thursday, January 10th, 2013, at the Armenian Center in Pasadena California. Supporters, friends, and prominent members of the Armenian American Community were present to celebrate.
ANCA – Pasadena Chapter Board Chairperson, Shoghig Yepremian, introduced the dignitaries and guests of the day and thanked everyone for their unwavering support of the Armenian American Community in the city of Pasadena. In retrospect, Ms. Yepremian highlighted the enormous amount of work that was carried out by the ANCA board members for the past year and went on to congratulate the ANCA – Pasadena Chapter Board for its persistent hard work and diligence in looking out for the best interests of the Armenian American community in the city of Pasadena.
Significant highlights of the evening came when 27th. District Congresswoman, Judy Chu, presented a Certificate of Congressional Recognition to the ANCA – Pasadena Chapter, and when two members of the ANCA – Pasadena Chapter Board, David George Gevorkyan and Nareene Karakashian, were presented with honorary plaques from board Chairperson Ms. Yepremian for their distinguished service and unrelenting effort within the board to further the cause of the Armenian American Community in Pasadena.
Friends of the ANCA in attendance included Congresswoman Judy Chu, former State Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, current Pasadena Vice-Mayor Margaret McAustin, Councilmembers Terry Tornek (Dist. 7), Gene Masuda (Dist. 4) and Jacque Robinson (Dist. 1), Former City of Pasadena Councilmember and now 44th. District State of California Assemblyman, Chris Holden, Pasadena Chief of Police Philip Sanchez, Pasadena City Treasurer Vic Erganian, Pasadena City Manager Michael Beck, Harry Kouladjian of the Pasadena Armenian Police Advisory Committee (PAPAC). Also present was former mayor of the City of Pasadena, the Hon. William Paparian, Pasadena City College Board Trustees, William E. Thomson and Berlinda Brown as well as Pasadena Unified School District President, Renatta Cooper and Vice-President Ed Honowitz.
The ANCA – Pasadena Chapter Board promised to continue its ongoing work to lead the community in the right direction in the upcoming year as it has in the past and see to it that the much anticipated genocide memorial project be fulfilled in time for the centennial commemoration in 2015.
