Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals Plans $250M Manufacturing Plant in Wisconsin

Pasadena-based Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has completed the purchase of 13 acres of land in the Verona Technology Park in Verona, Wisconsin, where the company plans to build a drug manufacturing facility, and a laboratory and office facility to support process development and analytical activities.

In a statement, the company said it intends to invest between $200 million and $250 million into construction of the facilities. Once finished, the new buildings are expected to result in approximately 250 new jobs in the local area.

The drug manufacturing facility will be approximately 140,000 square feet in size, and the lab and office facility will be approximately 115,000 square feet, the statement said.

The company said it will continue to operate existing research and development facilities in San Diego and in Madison, Wisconsin.

“For more than a decade, Arrowhead has been a dedicated member of the biotech community in the greater Madison, Wisconsin, area,” Christopher Anzalone, Arrowhead president and CEO, said. “We have built strong local relationships and are pleased to continue our growth with the new Arrowhead campus that will include a new GMP manufacturing facility and associated lab and office facility. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2022, and completion of the lab and office space is targeted in the first quarter of 2023. The manufacturing facility could be completed around the fourth quarter of 2023.
