Dodgers Tie Angels 6-6, in pre-season Tuneup

Preseason games don’t have extra innings, so this one ends in a tie. In a game that displayed some moderate-sized holes in the Dodgers pitching and fielding, the Dodgers managed to tie the game with a ninth inning, first-pitch home run from Kike Hernandez.

Starting pitcher Brett Anderson was shelled early on, giving up four hits,  as nearly every batter he faced made serious contact with the bat.

The Angels scored right away following a pair of singles from Calhoun and Trout. CJ Cron singled home Mike Trout. The Dodgers answered in the second with a home run from Scott Van Slyke, who also singled.

The Dodgers scored three more in the 4th,  but the Angels came roaring back in the sixth, scoring three runs, which were helped along by a number of Dodger errors.

Puig bobbled a pitch in the fourth inning, allowing runners to move, then followed that up with a circus catch on a deep shot to center, preventing an Angel run.

 

The Dodgers open the regular home season Monday, April 6, at 1:10 p.m. against the San Diego Padres.

5:48 p.m. — There are a lot of usual faces in the lineup tonight, along with some new ones. Rookie pitcher Brett Anderson gets his first trip to the mound, and Jimmy Rollins comes to LA from Philly.

5:45 p.m. — If you’re here tonight, you’ll notice a lot of Dodger staff in green. No, they’re to Celtics, its part of the Dodgers new “green” movement. Less papers, more trees.

 

 

It’s not Opening Day quite yet. That’s Monday. But the Dodgers will meet the Angels tonight to flex some muscles and try out their home jerseys.

The Dodgers will start Jimmy Rollings at shortstop, Yasiel Puig in Right Field, Adrian Gonzales as a designated hitter, Howie Kenrick at second base, Scott Van Slyke at first, Yasmani Grandal behind the place, Carl Crawford in Left Field, Juan Uribe at third, and Joc Pederson in center field. Brett Anderson is the starting pitcher.

The Angels will counter with Kole Calhoun in right field, Mike Trout in Center Field, Albert Pujols as designated hitter, David Freese at third, C.J. Cron at first base, Erick Aybar at short, Chris Ianneta in Center, Collin Cowgill in left field, and Johnny Giavotella at second.
