Pasadena police are investigating an attempted carjacking at a Cadillac dealership on East Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena Police Lieutenant Anthony Russo said.

Russo said officers responded at about 2:27 p.m. Saturday to the 3400 block of East Colorado after reports of a possible vehicle theft. A suspect approached a car during a test drive and displayed what appeared to be firearms, Russo said.

The victims were identified as a 51-year-old man and an employee from Whittier and a 62-year-old man who was the customer and is from Los Angeles, said Russo.

The employee was seated in the passenger seat when the suspect opened the driver’s side door, showing a backpack with a rifle stock protruding. The suspect reached into the vehicle, prompting the employee to get out and confront him, Russo said.

The suspect fled northbound through the parking lot, with several dealership employees following. He was last seen jumping over rear fences toward the freeway and was not located, Russo said.

Russo said the suspect displayed an AR-15-style airsoft rifle and an unknown type of black pistol.

No injuries were reported, and the suspect did not take the vehicle, Russo said.
