The Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition is hosting a night ride in West Pasadena on Saturday, Aug. 12, as part of its monthly series of bike events.
The ride starts at 7:30 p.m. from Memorial Park. The route will include the Colorado Street Bridge and other scenic areas of the city.
“The route is an approximately 11-mile loop, mostly along residential streets but with a few sections along busier streets,” a post on the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition’s Facebook page said. “There are a couple of climbs, with a total elevation gain of 600 feet.”
An all-volunteer group, the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition advocates for safer and more inclusive streets for all modes of transportation in the city. It organizes bike rides, including this night ride on Saturday, to encourage residents and visitors to use active transportation.
The ride is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Participants must sign a waiver and wear helmets.
Children riding on their own must be able to average 12 mph and stay with their parents. Younger children and pets are welcome if they are riding in a trailer or a cargo bike.
