The top-seeded Vikings (22-10) were led by freshman Timmy Anderson, who scored 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Anderson averages 23 points and seven rebounds per game for Blair, which has won seven straight games and is ranked #1 in SS Division 5A and #9 in all of California for their division.
Blair is the only Pasadena Unified School District boys’ basketball team to reach the CIF-SS championships this season. The Vikings have made two previous appearances in the finals, in 1974 and 1980, but lost both times.
Head Coach Devon Richardson said he was proud of his team’s progress and credited Assistant Coach Tommy Anderson, Timmy’s father, for helping develop the players.
“He’s been a big part of our success,” Richardson said. “He’s been working with these kids since they were little.”
Blair will face Santa Paula (13-9) for the Division 5A championship on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Colony High School, 3850 E. Riverside Drive, Ontario. For tickets, click here: https://gofan.co/app/events/917486?schoolId=CIFSS
Richardson said he expects a tough game against Santa Paula, which has won six of its last seven games.
