Pasadena firefighters knocked down a blaze early Friday that caused extensive damage to a vacant home.
The fire was called in at 4:09 a.m.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home in the 600 block of North Mentor Avenue, just south of Orange Grove Boulevard.
The home was vacant. There were no reported injuries.
“Thankfully, a neighbor reacted quickly by calling 911 when they saw smoke in early morning hours,” Pasadena City spokesperson Lisa Derderian told Pasadena Now.
A large amount of firefighting equipment and a number of firefighting and rescue personnel were at the scene.
Pasadena police conducted traffic control.
An estimated $500,000 in damage to the structure has been reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
