Southern California gourmet grocer Bristol Farms has announced two fundraising campaigns to support communities impacted by the January wildfires, focusing on relief efforts through partnerships with several charitable organizations.
The company’s “L.A. Strong” campaign allows customers to donate at registers across all 13 store locations, with proceeds that at first benefited the California Fire Foundation from March 1-14 and then World Central Kitchen from March 15-28. Bristol Farms has committed to matching donations up to $10,000 for each organization.
“It’s been important for Bristol Farms to remain dedicated to our neighbors, even as the headlines fade,” said Steve Howard, Senior Vice President of Retail at Bristol Farms. “The road to recovery for our communities will be long and we want people to know we are committed to help where we can, for as long as we can.”
Howard, who has been with the company for 36 years, said the relief efforts feel personal for many team members throughout their Los Angeles locations.
In addition to the register donation program, Bristol Farms will support Pasadena Humane through two separate events in April. The grocer will participate in Pasadena Humane’s 37th annual Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run on April 6, distributing protein bars, beverages, and fruit to participants.
The company will also host a “Grilling for Good” event at their South Pasadena location on April 12, featuring a $25 grilled lunch special with options including Beyond Meat Sausage Sandwich or Burger, Bristol Burger, or Mulay’s Sausage Sandwich, plus chips, a beverage, and Bristol Farms Bakery’s own “The Cookie,” a blend of Belgian chocolate chunks and crunchy walnuts. All proceeds will benefit Pasadena Humane. First responders are invited to enjoy complimentary lunches at the event.
Bristol Farms has established a landing page on Pasadena Humane’s website for those unable to attend the Grilling for Good event but wishing to contribute. Register donations will also be collected at Bristol Farms South Pasadena on April 12.
Joyce de Brevannes, Vice President of Marketing, explained the selection process for their charitable partners.
“With so many worthy charities, it was difficult to select just three for our upcoming campaigns,” de Brevannes said. “The heroic efforts of firefighters and the meaningful work of the California Fire Foundation was a clear choice from the start. And World Central Kitchen’s mission deeply resonates with our own. We both are committed to the comfort that food brings to people.”
The decision to partner with Pasadena Humane for April’s events stemmed from the organization’s frontline response to the Eaton fire.
“Pasadena Humane was on the frontlines in response to the Eaton fire,” said de Brevannes. “They rescued and cared for hundreds of animals and continue to do so to this day. Their commitment really moved us.”
Bristol Farms said it will match total funds raised for Pasadena Humane up to $10,000.
Bristol Farms has operated as a Southern California grocer for more than 40 years and expressed readiness to support the communities that have supported them throughout those decades.
