The California Department of Transportation, Caltrans, will begin nighttime work on the State Route 134 bridge over Arroyo Seco Natural Park in Pasadena as soon as Monday, April 10. The work will take place overnight on Monday through early Saturday morning each week for at least through the end of the month.

During this work, up to three lanes on eastbound SR 134 will close intermittently. In addition, there will be temporary closures of the eastbound SR 134 on-ramp from North San Rafael Avenue and the off-ramp from eastbound SR 134 to Orange Grove Boulevard.

These nighttime closures will allow crews to safely install an inspection platform on the eastbound portion of the bridge. Night work on the westbound portion will take place at a later date.

Upcoming closures include:

  • Up to three lanes of eastbound SR 134 between North San Rafael Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard
    • Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day
    • Friday from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following day
  • The eastbound SR 134 on-ramp from North San Rafael Avenue
    • Monday through Friday as soon as 7 p.m. and reopening by 6 a.m. the following day
  • The eastbound SR 134 off-ramp to Orange Grove Boulevard
    • Monday through Thursday as soon as 9 p.m. and reopening by 6 a.m. the following day
    • Friday as soon as 9 p.m. and reopening by 8 a.m. the following day

This work is being done as part of a bridge barrier upgrade project, which will enhance safety to meet state standards.

Caltrans asks motorists to please avoid the area and use an alternate route during these closures.

Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Please visit the Caltrans Quickmap for the latest road conditions and closures.

Caltrans reminds motorists to be “Work Zone Alert” and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
