One person was killed and four others were injured after a California Highway Patrol pursuit ended in a violent crash involving three cars at the intersection of Glenarm Street and the terminus of the northbound 110 Freeway in Pasadena.
Pasadena Police Lieutenant Anthony Russo confirmed one person died at the scene.
According to a media report, the person who died was reportedly the driver CHP was chasing.
The Pasadena Fire Dept. was called to the scene at 12:39 a.m. Sunday morning. A spokesperson reported the Fire Dept. treated four persons for injuries, three of whom were transported to a local hospital.
Two people in a silver car were seriously injured and another person in the same car sustained unknown injuries. A man in a black car suffered minor injuries.
Footage from the scene showed heavily damaged cars and a covered body in a white car.
The initial call at 12:06 a.m. was of a possible DUI driver on the northbound freeway, approaching Fair Oaks Avenue, in South Pasadena, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident remains under investigation by the CHP.
