Pasadena announced most municipal facilities will close on Monday, Feb. 17, for Presidents Day, but essential emergency services will continue normal operations.

Most federal, state and county government offices will also be closed Monday, along with schools, courts and financial institutions. There will be no regular postal services.

Pasadena Fire and Police Departments will continue to provide patrol, jail, fire, paramedic and other emergency services during the holidays. For life-threatening emergencies, residents should call 911. For non-emergencies, contact Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4241. The department urges residents who “See Something, Say Something” to report suspicious activity to the same number.

Residents will experience no disruption in trash collection services, with pickup continuing as scheduled. However, multiple city facilities face temporary closures, including all Pasadena Public Library branches (Feb. 16-17), the City Service Center (reopening Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 8 a.m.), Housing Department, Municipal Services Payment Center, and Parking Office.

The Permit Center will close but continues offering online services, including subtrade permits and plan submissions for new construction, tenant improvements, accessory dwelling units and additions. In-person operations resume Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The Pasadena Public Health Department will close for the holiday, with vaccine clinics rescheduled for Feb. 19 and 24. The department reminds residents to take measures against respiratory viruses, including masking indoors, getting vaccinated, and staying home when sick. Parks remain open for recreational use, though site reservations are suspended and community centers will close.

For utility customers, Pasadena Water and Power’s Customer Service Call Center will close, but residents can access accounts and make payments through the automated phone system (626) 744-4005 or online at PWPWeb.com. For power emergencies, call (626) 744-4673; for water emergencies, call (626) 744-4138.

Parking regulations will see temporary changes, with all meters free and time limits suspended. However, violations for overnight parking restrictions, red curb parking, and blocking fire hydrants will still be issued. Regular parking enforcement resumes Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The City Council will not meet on Feb. 17, with the next meeting scheduled for Feb. 24. Public transportation maintains normal operations, with Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride buses running regular schedules.

All California state government offices, including the Department of Education and State Treasurer’s Office, will suspend operations for the federal holiday.

Federal facilities, including U.S. district courts and post offices, will close. Banks and credit unions will also shut down, though ATMs and online banking services will remain available.

Public schools throughout Los Angeles County will not hold classes. The LA County Office of Education and library branches will close for the day.

The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ will suspend trading for the holiday.
