The Pasadena City Council awarded four companies non-exclusive police towing franchises on Monday.

Pasadena based A-Car Auto Repair Services, Henry’s Towing and Recovery, located in Alhambra; M&M Action Towing, located in South Pasadena; and Dickson Motor Services, located in San Gabriel will receive one year franchise agreements and an option for up to four additional one-year renewals.

The City Council also conducted a related resolution and conducting the first reading of an uncodified ordinance related to the franchises.

The City is required to advertise the opportunity to apply for a non-exclusive franchise each year. This year, a request for applications was published on Feb. 15 and closed on Feb. 26, with the four companies submitting responses.

The Municipal Code mandates that a public hearing be held before awarding any police towing franchises. On April 15, the City Council adopted a resolution giving notice of the applications received and set the hearing for the May 13 meeting.

The City is expected to receive $22,500 annually per franchisee, according to a resolution adopted in August 2018. If all four franchises are awarded, the City would receive a total of $90,000 annually.
