City of Pasadena Celebrates National Women’s History Month with Programs, Events, and Community

The City of Pasadena proudly commemorates National Women’s History Month with a series of inspiring events celebrating the contributions and achievements of women. Throughout March, the City will host engaging programs and events highlighting the stories of remarkable women in history, art, public service, and business.

Collage your Role Model!
Saturday, March 7 | 3 p.m., Santa Catalina Branch Library, 999 E. Washington Blvd.
Celebrate Women’s History Month by collaging your role model – anyone from an actress to your grandma to a women’s rights activist to a teacher! Bring along copies of your photos or use the ones provided. Collaging supplies will be provided. To attend, sign up at CityOfPasadena.net/Library/Calendar/. For ages 9+.

“I Am” Radiating Paper Mosaic
Thursday, March 12 | 3:30 p.m., Santa Catalina Branch Library, 999 E. Washington Blvd.
Consider your own journey this Women’s History Month. Create a mosaic radiating words and phrases that are meaningful to you. Make it deep, make it fun – it’s your story. For ages 13+.

HERstory 2026: The Path Forward for Pay Equity
Saturday, March 14 | 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Robinson Park, 1081 N Fair Oaks Ave.
Join the City of Pasadena’s Commission on the Status of Women for HERstory 2026: The Path Forward for Pay Equity, an interactive Women’s History Month program focused on closing the pay gap and advancing workplace equity. The event features a panel discussion with excerpts from Lilly, the 2025 film starring Patricia Clarkson as Lilly Ledbetter, highlighting her landmark fight against wage discrimination.

Amelia Earhart’s Paper Plane Race
Saturday, March 14 | 3 p.m., Santa Catalina Branch Library, 999 E. Washington Blvd.
Become a pilot for a day and fly your paper plane to victory! Celebrate Women’s History Month with us by learning about Amelia Earhart and racing paper planes. Choose and fold a paper plane design, then compete to see if your plane can go the furthest. For ages 8+.

Celebrate Women’s “Her” Story – Bookmarks
Friday, March 20 • 11 a.m. • San Rafael Branch Library, 1240 Nithsdale Rd.
Make a bookmark using a quote from a woman writer that speaks to you, or write something that honors a story of your own. There will be a variety of art materials and quotes you can choose from to complete your project. To attend, call (626) 744-7270. For ages 18+.

Woman-owned Businesses Spotlight Series

Month-long series | Social Media
The City’s Communications and Marketing Division and Economic Development Division under the City Manager’s Office will highlight woman-owned businesses in Pasadena throughout March. This series will showcase local entrepreneurs making an impact in the community. Follow along on social media via Facebook and Instagram @CityOfPasadena, and X @PasadenaGov.

Women’s Fire Academy
The Pasadena Fire Department, in partnership with the Glendale Fire Department, invites women ages 18 and older to participate in the 2nd Annual Women’s Fire Academy. This dynamic, hands-on program offers participants the opportunity to step into the heat and experience real firefighting activities led by professional firefighters. The academy will take place Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Attendance is free, and additional information will be provided after registration.
