City officials will hold a press conference Tuesday, June 23, to outline an investigation that uncovered approximately 10,000 pounds of illegal explosive fireworks and led to four arrests, according to a City of Pasadena statement.

Pasadena Fire Department arson investigators and the Pasadena Police Department Street Crime Unit found fireworks intended for distribution in Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley cities in a search warrant service operation in Los Angeles last week, the announcement said.

The LASD Bomb Squad responded after homemade explosive devices were located.

Investigators seized about 10,000 pounds of illegal explosive fireworks, marijuana products, an unregistered firearm with high?capacity magazines and documentation tied to illegal fireworks sales.

The case is believed to be linked to a criminal street?gang enterprise smuggling fireworks from Nevada. Officials estimated the resale value at upwards of $120,000.

Pasadena Now reporter Eddie Rivera will cover the press conference and report full details.
