The Colburn School in Los Angeles has recently appointed Nate Zeisler as Provost, effective January 2024, and Mira Wolff as Vice President of Human Resources and General Counsel, effective October 2023.

The Colburn School’s Orchestra frequently performs at Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena. It will return for a Collaboration Concert next month.

As Provost, Zeisler will assume the role of Chief Academic Officer, overseeing the school’s four educational units: the Conservatory of Music, Community School of Performing Arts, Music Academy, and Trudl Zipper Dance Institute. He will be managing a diverse student body of more than 2,000 and directing the faculty and academic unit staff.

Zeisler has been with Colburn School for over 12 years, having previously served as Interim Provost and in various leadership capacities, including Vice President of Partnerships and Planning and Dean for Community Initiatives.

“He has knowledge of our faculty and academic programs, significant experience working with our board and greater community, and a national profile in community engagement and career development,” Sel Kardan, Colburn School President and CEO, said. “Due to his calm demeanor, thoughtful decision making, and deep understanding of and support of our mission, he has built strong relationships with his colleagues at Colburn and peers in the field.”

Zeisler said he is honored to be taking on the position.

“As I take on the oversight of multiple educational units within the school, I am committed to maintaining the philosophy of ‘access to excellence’ which informs everything we do,” he said. “Working with our incredible faculty, I look forward to upholding Colburn’s philosophy of providing top-level instruction to all who aspire to study music or dance.”

Wolff, who assumes a dual role, brings over two decades of expertise in human resources management and legal counsel to her new position. She will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the school’s human resources initiatives and providing legal guidance across the organization.

“Mira brings valuable skills, experience, and energy to the position,” Kardan said. “She comes to Colburn School with a wealth of experience, combining legal expertise with a profound understanding of human resources. These skills, coupled with her lifelong passion for music and arts, make her an ideal addition to the Colburn leadership team.”

Wolff expressed enthusiasm for merging her professional background with her personal passion for the arts.

“It is a privilege to join the Colburn School, and to merge my legal and human resources expertise with my deep passion for music and dance,” she said. “I look forward to supporting and advancing a culture of open communication and employee support, and I am excited to contribute to the ongoing endeavor of ensuring equitable access to excellence in arts education while working with the teams at Colburn.”

The Colburn School offers a comprehensive spectrum of music and dance education, ranging from the Community School of Performing Arts to the Conservatory of Music and the Trudl Zipper Dance Institute.
